Lisa Spiegel and Jean Kunhardt founded Soho Parenting in 1988. Their professional relationship began in 1985 at Bellevue Hospital in New York City where their work included parent guidance, play therapy and groups for adolescent parents. This experience, coupled with their academic studies laid the foundation for their ideas about child development and parenting. However, it was their shared experience of being new mothers that inspired the creation of their own parent counseling service. Over the years, Soho Parenting has grown from a small practice to a nationally recognized parenting center.

Spiegel and Kunhardt have become well known experts in their field and have been featured in a variety of media such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Vanity Fair, ABC News, and Parents Magazine. Their unique combination of information, insight, empathy and humor has enriched the lives of many families. Jean and Lisa lead parenting groups and provide consultation for adults and children.
