Soho Parenting Groups
Soho Parenting offers groups to parents of children of all ages. Each session balances developmental information with guidance about the emotional work it takes to be a thoughtful parent. The groups also serve to help build a sense of community among the members, many of whom build lasting friendships with one another while their children do the same.
New Mothers Circle
The New Mothers Circle is an eight-week group for mothers and their babies, ages 1 to 9 months. The group is a place to honestly discuss the tremendous changes new motherhood brings. In a relaxed and nurturing environment, the group leader offers valuable information and facilitates discussions about such topics as:
- Sleep
- Co-parenting with your partner
- Feeding
- Work and Identity
- Becoming the Mother You Want to Be
- Separation Anxiety
- Choosing Childcare
- Infant Massage
All sessions are devoted to a specific topic, yet there is always room for questions and issues that are pressing that particular day.
"I really felt alone, sleep deprived and overwhelmed when I became a new mom. Coming to the New Mothers Circle was not only helpful in getting my son to sleep, but I also made great new friends."
-Elizabeth K., mother of Max, six months
"Having a place to go to continue learning about Sam's development was so reassuring. I had gotten the hang of taking care of the baby but my whole identity felt different. The group helped me feel more comfortable with the ways my life had changed."
- Isabel A., mother of Sam, nine months
Mothers Circle Groups
The Mothers Circle groups are ongoing, weekly groups for women who use Soho Parenting for continued guidance and support as their families develop and grow. In addition, the camaraderie and support of the other members becomes an indispensable and enriching part of motherhood. Each week women bring in important issues such as:
- Their child's development
- Marital relationship and co-parenting
- How their own upbringing impacts their family today
Groups are organized by the general ages of the children.

Soho Dad's Group
The Soho Dad's Group is an ongoing group for fathers. This is a forum to discuss the many issues that men grapple with as husbands, fathers and family providers. Topics include:
- The father you want to be
- Co-parenting
- Handling discipline
- Exploring your father's legacy
This group will be lead by John Carr, LCSW, who specializes in the area of fatherhood. He is the father of two.
Peer Groups
Soho Parenting now offers after-school groups for children in elementary and middle school. These groups are an opportunity for children at different ages to gain confidence in their ability to communicate constructively, reflect on their own behavior, and make positive choices. These groups equip children with practical tools to help with communication, collaboration and cooperation. In this supportive and fun environment children gain the self-esteem and confidence to help them navigate the challenges of friendship, managing their feelings and resolving conflicts.
